Anolis carolinensis cDNA Study
PROJECT DESCRIPTION:
The green anole lizard,
Anolis carolinensis, is the first reptilian genome to be sequenced.
Anoles are models for laboratory studies of organismal function and for field studies of ecology and evolution. The genome sequence is conducted by
The Broad Institute and is being supported by a
diverse research community. As part of the genome project, a number of normalized cDNA libraries were created for sequencing, from a variety of tissues, to facilitate the annotation of genes and better document the
Anolis transcriptome. Once the sequencing of 200,000 ESTs is completed, the annotated cDNA clones will be archived and made available to researchers. The cDNA sequencing is currently underway at The Broad Institute.
PROJECT LEADERS: John Colbourne
FUNDING: The National Human Genome Research Institute, subcontract by the Broad Institute (F. DiPalma)
DATA: Sequencing of cDNA libraries is complete. Project updates are posted.
